Valerie Resendez, MA, LPC
Valerie Resendez is the Diversion Program Manager at the Colorado Department of Human Services’ Office of Behavioral Health, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. Valerie obtained her MA in Forensic Psychology from the University of Denver in 2008 and has experience working with various forensic populations including federal and state probationers and parolees, perpetrators and victims of domestic violence, and adults with severe and persistent mental illness involved in the criminal justice system.
Prior to OBH, Valerie worked for nearly 8 years in a community mental health criminal justice program to provide direct services to formerly incarcerated adults. During this time she also collaborated with a wide variety of community agencies and programs to improve holistic client care and reduce stigma around forensic populations. Valerie has been with OBH since 2019 and is responsible for oversight of OBH funded Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) programs and Offender Behavioral Health Services provided by community mental health centers.
